Qi Guide – Intro

Posted on July 8, 2026July 8, 2026 by admin

This is a work in progress that I’ll update over the next excursion. So be warned, at the moment it’s mainly from memory.

I’m going to write out my start and first collection from MK world now, then update after each collection.

I’m also going to try Qi with no boosts and just the 500 starting Shards in a different world. If it goes okay I’ll update each day with a cut down version.

Hopefully I’ll stay one collection ahead. Hopefully.

Quick Explanation of Qi

There are two parts to Qi. The map and the settlement.

The map is where you can fight and/or donate resources to gain progress points and prizes.

The settlement is where you gain the resources to progress on the map. If you build the settlement well, you’ll be able to do more on the map and get more progress/prizes.

A Qi season lasts around 2 months and consists of 6, 12 day, incursions.

You’ll start each season of Qi with 500 Shards. These are like Diamonds in your main City and can be used to help progress. You can get more Shards as prizes or purchase them with Diamonds. During a season the amount of Shards you have at the end of an incursion roll over to the next incursion. So if you have 1800 at the end of the first round, you’ll start the second with 1800. Likewise, if you finish the first round with 0 Shards, you’ll start the second round with 0.

Important. At the end of each season your Shards expire, so make sure to use them all at the end.

At the start of each new incursion, you get a certain number of Coins & Supplies that I can’t remember. You also get 100,000 Actions.

Actions are what enable you to progress on the map. To take one turn at fighting/donating costs 3500 Actions. Once you have less than 3500 you can do no more. Actions recharge at a base rate of 5000 per hour and you store up to 200,000 (again, base rate).

Coins, Supplies, Army Boosts, Units, Actions and more can all generated by your Settlement.

This part is taking forever to explain, so going to come back to it later

In MK world I have 70,000 coins at the start from my main City. I also currently have 1800 Shards. If you have at least the same coin and Shards as me, you’ll be able to follow this guide:

If you have less, then this guide might be better.

D

For optimal play from the start, you’ll need the following:

  • Expansions: 4 (3 bought, 1 from goods)
  • Diamonds: 1500
  • Goods from City at start: 50
  • Coins from City at start: 200,000

If you don’t have

This works without any boosts at all, and makes it easy to max out fights right through day 11 and get the best rewards (best in the game usually). In short, it’s good for a new world or as an intro to Qi. Or just for those short of time.

At Start:

The Settlement:

2 x Expansion (next to each other, ideally on left or right, use shards to buy)

8 x Estate House

4 x Palace

7 x Brewery

1 x Catapult

Use any left over coin to buy catapults. In my new world I bought 2 x 10

To fight, pick a side, Red or Blue. Whichever side you pick, stick to it throughout the whole incursion. Initially fight with 6 x Catapult and any 2 others. The others will take more damage and it really doesn’t matter if you lose them. It’s only the catapults you need after today. Do as many fights as you can, with undamaged units. Once you don’t have enough undamaged units to do a fight, stop. I got down to about 20k actions.

Now leave it for 10 hours until the settlement is ready to collect again.

Tip: try and pick the easier fights rather than bosses today. Even if it means waiting for more difficult nodes to clear first.

1st Collection:

If, like me, your units and resources are pretty crushed, just collect. Then leave until the next collection.

If you’ve been more successful than me and still have a descent amount of units and resources, swap an Estate House or two (if you can) for a Frame House. Then carry on fighting.

Qi works better over time, building resources to progress. If you lose everything you have now, you’ll likely be on the back foot all the way though and struggle with later days. Easier to ignore now, building resources and build a foundation. Then, after another collection tomorrow, see where you are.

Being able to fight later days gives way more progress than day 1 or 2.

2nd Collection:

Collect all.

I swapped out the catapult for a trebuchet and bought 30 units. Now I can max out fights on auto 😂 (just fight with treb’s).

Also, I deleted an Estate House and added a Frame House. My happiness is now under 120 so I’ll delete another Estate House before next collection 👍

3rd Collection:

Collect from 1 Estate House. Delete that Estate House (to get happiness to max again). Collect all.

Build a second or third Frame House.

Delete a palace. Build a library.

Tip: If you don’t have enough resources to do all the above, leave what you can’t do until the next collection. Then, finish the above before starting the next collections instructions. It’s the order of things that make this work. Doesn’t matter much if things take an extra collection or two too complete.

4th Collection:

Just collect if you have 3 Frame Houses. If you have two, build a third.

I was losing a few too many Trebuchet’s, so needed a bit of boost. I’m fighting the Blue side, so bought a ‘Group of Trees’. That made fighting easy again. If you are fighting the Red side, use a ‘Tower Ruin’ decoration instead.

5th Collection:

Again, just sticking to the easiest route to fighting the whole excursion, just collect. Save resources for a Cannon Camp.

The rewards get better as Qi progresses. Fighting later days is where you get the most.

If you are losing too many units tomorrow, just build another decoration if you can. If not, just stop.

6th Collection and Going Forward:

Once you start to lose too many trebuchets, and have enough Chrono (and coin, and supplies) delete the Trebuchet & build a Cannon.

Now it’s just a case of having enough Cannon’s to fight. If you start losing too many Cannons, add more attack or defence decorations.

By now, you should be getting enough resources from your settlement to buy extra units and attack or defence decorations as needed.

You’ll also need to delete a palace or two along the way to make way for more decorations. To keep happiness at maximum, build a Cartographers. You’ll know when is right for you.

Day 11:

Complete collection and make sure you have enough units for fights. All that matters today is having enough units, plus enough defence or attack. So all supply buildings, cannon camp, most houses can be deleted to fill space with decorations.

I’d suggest deleting all supply buildings and cannon camp first, then using the space for as many decorations as you can afford. Then, if you still have enough resources, delete some houses and build more decorations.

And that’s it. That will take you right through Qi. Good luck, enjoy the rewards and above all, enjoy the game 👍

There’s no great reason not to do the above every incursion. It’s what I do if I know I’m going to be short of time. Or, try the above a few times, then adapt little bits to get you more rewards. Cheers 🍻

NEW GUIDE FOR ZERO BOOSTS

Start. 3 x expansion

21 estate houses less if not enough coin

27 multi story same as above

1st collection

Delete multi stories and add Churches in space until at full Euphoria, then collect all. Delete Churches.

Rebuild as before

2nd collection

Exactly the same as 1st

If low on troops, just don’t fight today.

3rd collection

Same again.

Will come as no surprise it was Penguin. We are good friends and speak all the time. Been trying to get me back for ages, but no way will I be on same guild as Reze ever again. I do miss everyone there though. Was there a long time.

I’ll see out GbG and fight to max everyday 👍

If they let that bitch back in (does an insane amount of fights), then I’ll walk again. Then, if you’ll have me back, return. In the meantime I’ll see if I can divert a few players your way.
